Baywatch (2017) Review

Baywatch is the 2017 film adaptation of the original 1989 television series of the same name directed by Seth Gordon, written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, and starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.

The Plot
Mitch Buchannon (Dwayne Johnson), Matt Brody (Zac Efron), and other members of the crew work as lifeguards at Baywatch and must investigate suspicious activities of drug smuggling and murders across the bay.

Positives
I liked a bit of the chemistry between Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron. That's it.

Negatives
Pretty much, almost everything else is a negative. Starting with the obvious, the writing is terrible. The problem with a film like this is that it's not even funny aside from probably one scene.

It's boring. It doesn't really provide anything of entertainment value.

The production design is awful. Literally, every "action" scene is shot in a very cheap, TV-looking way. It's terrible. Plot, direction, editing, almost everything.

Conclusion
I don't know what else anyone should expect from a film like this. The picture above this review should tell you what kind of movie this is: a loud comedy with a lot of dirty jokes, hot people, and boobs. They should rename this movie to Borewatch instead. The only reason this movie doesn't get an F is because I expected it to be bad anyways and it didn't make me sick watching it. Movies that get an F from me have to be so bad that it sickens me to watch it and I hate watching.

Score: D
