The Best and Worst of 2017 (so far)
Best and Worst Films of 2017 (So far)
This hasn't been a particularly good year for movies so far. Half of 2017 is over and here are the best and worst movies I've seen in 2017. The movies listed aren't ordered from best to worst; they're just movies that I consider the best and worst of 2017 so far. I'll also include a list of movies that I wish I saw this year....but didn't for some reason.
Best Movies
#1. John Wick Chapter 2 - John Wick Chapter 2 is the second iteration of the John Wick series and it's a treat for moviegoers who want intense action. It has good production qualities, good camerawork and choreography, and it's a highly entertaining movie. It's arguable whether it's better than the first one or not, but it's still a good movie.
#2. Logan - Logan is a great "superhero" movie and it's hard for me to call it a superhero movie. It stands out from its genre for having good direction, style, a good enough story, excellent performance from Hugh Jackman, and delivering the Wolverine solo movie that fans deserve.
#3. Baby Driver - Baby Driver is the latest film from Edgar Wright and it's awesome. This fast-paced movie delivers great visual presentation with its amazing score, editing, and direction & style.
Worst Movies
#1. Sleepless - Sleepless is an ironic title. The movie does more of good job putting the audience to sleep than making them feel sleepless. The action is boring, the acting is terrible, the plot is dumb, and the whole thing is boring. Nothing really happens.
#2. Transformers: The Last Knight - Transformers 5 is exactly what you should expect out of these movies. It's another boisterously loud plethora of explosions and unfunny jokes pandering to a low common denominator. It's not even entertaining. The movie feels too long even though it's supposedly the shortest transformers movie. And, once again, the actual Transformers take a backseat to their own movie....again. Instead, we get a hot chick with Mark Wahlberg running around.
#3. The Mummy - The Mummy is just a lazily, poorly compiled start for the Dark Universe. The visual effects are awful. Tom Cruise's performance was bad. And there's nothing entertaining to watch about it.
Movies I Regret Not Seeing:
#1. Split
#2. Get Out
#3. Free Fire
