Fate of the Furious (2017) Review

Plot
A mysterious cyberterrorist named Cipher forces Dominic Toretto to betray his crew and work for her. Letty and the team must face Dom and find out why he turned his back on family.

Positives
Admittedly, I did have fun with this movie and that's pretty much what this movie is made for. It's a decent dumb, mindless, popcorn thriller that will probably keep you entertained for an hour and a half.

It sticks to that same formula that the Fast and Furious movies has been known for, and fans of the series likely will be pleased.

Negatives
However, if you're expecting Fate of the Furious to bring something new to the table, it barely does that. It's just another Fast and Furious movie in the franchise with a slight twist.

The action sequenes are poorly shot and the slow motion got on my nerves. The technical components to this film are not good. It's "okay".

Conclusion
I'm aware that these films are made simply for entertainment. This is the eighth film in the franchise. People should know what they're getting into when they see a Fast and Furious movie by now. If you're looking for a simple mindless dumb action movie, then you'll probably get some enjoyment out of this. It's decent in that perspective. But, if you're looking for a film with substance (which I don't know why you would look for that in a Fast and Furious movie), then I would probably recommend you give this a pass or wait until it's out on TV or something.

Score: C
